When considering school funding, it seems to come down to the haves and the have-nots according to State Senator Andy Manar.

He is pushing his bill to change funding formulas for districts around the state.   Senate Bill-16 passed the Illinois Senate and is awaiting action in the House during the fall veto session.  Manar says he is open to changes but something must be done.

“You will see any number of changes but I would reinforce today, if there is any constructive criticism I would be open to those changes,” Manar said during a visit to Springfield Tuesday.

The bill would alter the way state education funds are doled out to school districts.  State Representative Sue Scherer joined Manar to lend her support to the proposed legislation.

“I think it has a chance of passing but I am the first one to say we all have our work to do when we get back to session,” says Scherer.

She says she has not yet met with her party leadership in the Illinois House but says some of her colleagues have signed on to the bill.
