Shimkus: Changes to Renewable Fuel Standard Are on Hold

U.S. Rep. John Shimkus (R-Collinsville) says the talks over the renewable fuels standard are at a pause. “EPA was gathering information to make a ruling,” Shimkus says. “They made a ruling in the middle of the 2013 numbers.”
A sidelight to the budget vote has been House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and his frustration with members of the Tea Party; Shimkus says the problem is with people in the Washington area who have not read legislation before complaining about it.
Shimkus says the Farm Bill negotiations are close enough to a resolution that staying through Christmas would have probably produced a solution; that said, Shimkus says he’s glad to be home.
