Sangamon County will begin issuing same-sex marriages licenses Friday.

County Clerk Joe Aiello says the new Illinois law goes into effect Sunday, June 1st so he wants to accommodate those who want a ceremony that day.

The cost is $75 and both parties need to be together to apply.  The clerk’s office will be open from 8:30am to 5pm Friday.

Rauner Issues Pardons

Illinois Republican gubernatorial candidate businessman Bruce Rauner participates in a Republican gubernatorial candidate debate Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, in Springfield, Ill. Rauner granted 10 and denied 200 clemency petitions.
