Petersburg Girl Hit by Van

An 11-year-old girl was hit by a van in Petersburg, but she’s expected to be okay.

Illinois State Police say the girl stepped off a sidewalk near the intersection of 5th and Sangamon Streets in Petersburg shortly before 5:00 Wednesday. The man driving the van didn’t see her as she stepped off the sidewalk, she was taken to St. John’s Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

No charges have been filed.
