Following the makeover of the Prairie Capital Convention Center, General Manager Brian Oaks says the center will play host to a series of outdoor summer concerts beginning this year.  The first event is slated to take place June 29th.

“It is the ‘Under the Sun’ tour appropriately.  The tour is Blues Traveler, Smashmouth, Sugar Ray and Uncle Kracker” says Oaks.

Parts of the adjacent parking garage may be converted to suites.

Oaks says he envisions the venue to help bring more weekend visitors to downtown Springfield. The new outdoor plaza will hold about 2,500 people.
