License Plate to Benefit Childhood Cancer Research

For an extra fifty dollars, you can make a statement with your license plate and fight cancer at the same time.

Eight-year-old Zoe Pramuk of Decatur appeared with her mother, her doctor, and her state senator to announce the Curing Childhood Cancer license plate. It features a gold ribbon, the symbol of children’s cancer awareness, and orange letters, the color symbolizing leukemia.

Dr. Greg Brandt, a pediatric oncologist in Springfield says money raised by sale of the plates will be split between St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and the St. Johns Children’s Hospital.

“In funding and clinical research and biologic research in causes and cures making life easier for kids and families with cancer” says Brandt.

Zoe’s mom, Jennifer Pramuk, says she came up with the idea of a license plate as a fund-raiser while making the innumerable trips between Decatur and Springfield.

Per state law, no plates will be made until there are 1500 ordered. Brandt says Zoe is cancer-free.
