Illinois State Police say a truck accident will close the southbound lanes of Interstate 55 just south of South Grand Ave.

A truck tractor reportedly skidded off the road, and the interstate’s southbound lanes will be closed until it’s removed. ISP reports the closure will take place around 9:30 a.m. Friday.

A detour will be set up, drivers will exit at South Grand (exit 96), turn south on Dirksen and re-enter the interstate at the Stevenson Dr. exit. No timeframe has been given as to when the interstate will re-open.
