A house fire Thursday morning has a mother and her three children searching for shelter.

The family and their dog escaped, no one was injured. Springfield fire crews responded to 12th and Cass around 10:00.

Fire chief Ken Fustin says the house appears to be a total loss, but firefighters got it under control before it spread to neighboring houses.
