Deadline Nears for Obama Library Site Bidding

The University of Illinois Chicago plans to announce a potential site for its bid for the Obama Presidential Library.

The university said Sunday that it will announce the potential site at a news conference Monday morning.

The university says it will post its complete submission as a potential location for the library on its website. The school on the city’s West Side is one of five Chicago locations hoping to become home to the library.

The University of Chicago, Chicago State University, the Bronzeville neighborhood and a retail and residential development near Lake Michigan are also hoping to become the library’s home.

New York City and Hawaii are also bidding to host the library.

Rauner Issues Pardons

Illinois Republican gubernatorial candidate businessman Bruce Rauner participates in a Republican gubernatorial candidate debate Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, in Springfield, Ill. The four Republican gubernatorial candidates said that they’ll be willing to work with unions if elected but differed on how to approach the relationship during a downstate debate that largely focused on pension reform, taxes and just briefly on personal issues that have dogged some of the candidates.
