Many children dream of being cowboys and cowgirls… and for some in Springfield, that dream came true.

Comedian Bill Martin and his “Cowboys Who Care” organization made a stop at St. John’s Children’s Hospital Friday to pass out cowboy hats.

“We provide financial support, smiles, and free cowboy hats to boys and girls who have cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.  In the last 17 months since we started we have given more than 1800 cowboy hats to kids across the country” says Martin.

Martin says the inspiration for the non-profit came from a friend’s child battling cancer.  He says he makes it a point to stop at hospitals as part of his comedy tour.
