Cooling Centers Again Open

The City of Springfield is opening cooling centers for those who need to get out of the dangerous heat.

Municipal Center East will be open 24-hours a day while Municipal Center West will be open 8am until 5pm.

Also, the Lincoln Public Library is a place people can go to cool off during the day.

An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued until 7pm Tuesday.  The heat index could reach 115-degrees at times with temperatures hitting the mid to upper 90s Monday and Tuesday.

A cool front is expected sometime Tuesday night with temperatures moderating to the low to mid 80s for the rest of the week.
