Assault Alleged at Band Competition

The mother of a teenage girl is suing two southwestern Illinois school districts for an alleged sexual assault in a bathroom during a band competition.

The lawsuit filed in St. Clair County names Freeburg High School, which the alleged attacker attended with the girl. Also named is O’Fallon Township High School, where the April 2013 band competition was held.

The lawsuit seeks damages from the schools for failing to protect the girl, from the alleged attacker, his parents, a chaperone teacher and Freeburg High’s principal.
