A New Berlin man is dead after being hit by a car in rural Sangamon County on Old Jacksonville Road near New Salem Church Road Sunday morning.

Sangamon County Coroner Cinda Edwards says Richard Wiley was pronounced dead at Memorial Medical Center Sunday morning.

Undersheriff Jack Campbell says Wiley was helping his 17 year old daughter out of a ditch after she skidded off the road. A 16 year old girl then came along and skidded off the road on the same icy patch, hitting Wiley and killing him.
