Accident Leaves State Trooper Injured

An unmarked Illinois State Police SUV was responding to a call near South Grand and Dirksen Parkway was broadsided by another vehicle.  The ISP vehicle was turned over and ended up on its roof.

The accident took place just after 3pm Monday afternoon

Both the trooper, Bryce Benton, 32, of Springfield, and the other driver, Vicki Gordon, 59, of Macon, were taken to a local hospital with what is being described as non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
