Velveeta shortage may ruin your Super Bowl party

With the Super Bowl just weeks away America could be facing a huge chili con queso conundrum: try not to panic, but we might be facing a shortage of the melty, gooey goodness known as Velveeta.

On Tuesday Advertising Age was the first to report that high consumer demand (it is definitely cheese dip season), paired with a “plant issue” could mean a lack of shelf-stable processed cheese product that pairs perfectly with Ro-Tel canned tomatoes and competition sports.

Ad Age reports that a shortage at some East Coast grocers prompted the investigation into the whereabouts of the good old “liquid gold.”

A Kraft spokeswoman says the company hasn’t “heard much about it from consumers at all” but that could be because no one warned them. So, consider yourself warned.
