NEW YORK (Reuters) – Pitchers Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine and slugger Frank Thomas were elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in results announced on Wednesday by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.

Craig Biggio fell just short.

Managers Bobby Cox, Joe Torre and Tony La Russa were elected last month by the expansion-era committee.

Players needed to be on 75 percent of the 571 ballots cast for election to the Cooperstown shrine.

They will be inducted at a ceremony on July 27.
