John Lennon’s school detention card to be auctioned

Detention report cards from John Lennon’s troubled school years are set to go under the hammer later this month.

The late Beatles legend attended the Quarry Bank High School for Boys in his native Liverpool, England in the 1950s, but documents show he struggled with academia.

Lennon was held back by teachers after school hours for continual disruptive behavior, with detentions being doled out for “fighting in class” and “sabotage”.

He was even handed three detentions in one day, with other reasons for the punishment ranging from being a “class clown” to having “just no interest (in school work) whatsoever”.

The two sheets, which date back to 1955 and were saved from a mass book burning at the school in the 1970s, will go up for sale on TrackAuction.com on Nov. 22.

Lennon’s bad reputation at school obviously didn’t hold him back – he met songwriting partner Sir Paul McCartney in 1957 and they went on to create some of the most iconic tracks of the 20th Century.
