NASHVILLE (AP) — George Jones’ widow says she’s just carrying out what her husband wanted.

The George Jones tribute concert will take place in Nashville Friday night, with pretty much any country star you can think of participating.

It was planned as Jones’ farewell concert, but he died in April.

Nancy Jones says they already had a great lineup before that, but after her husband’s death, musicians like Reba McEntire and George Strait called her, asking to be added.

Megadeth even asked to perform.

Nancy Jones says it will be hard for her to hear her husband’s music, but it was hard when she had to listen to it to help pick the songs that each artist would do.

The family of Jones has established a scholarship at Middle Tennessee State University in his name.

Nancy Jones, says her husband would have liked the fact that the school attracts a lot of people who are the first ones in their families to go to college. Nancy Jones made the first donation to the scholarship, but the amount was not disclosed.
