Work Doesn’t Stop Because of the Heat
Work Doesn’t Stop Because of the Heat

Kids may be heading home early from school and air conditioners may be running at maximum, but city work crews still are on the job in the heat wave.

“Work still needs to go on, branches need to be picked up, streets still need to be repaired” says Springfield Public Works Safety Technician Brian O’Neil.

He says street crews are well-trained and well-equipped when it comes to working in extreme conditions.  O’Neil says workers are trying to get out earlier in the morning to beat the heat but they have yet to cut back on hours worked.
