With an eye on the future, the village of Williamsville is still keeping an eye on its past. Village President Tom Yokely says the proposed purchase of property to house both the library and the village museum is something residents want and support.
“Everyone knows our library and musuem are located very near the tracks which is not the most conducive for the library or the museum. We have purchased the property that was occupied by the Christian Church before the tornado blew it down” Yokely says.
A public hearing on a tax levy of nearly 200-thousand dollars a year for 20 years is scheduled for next month and Yokely says the village is applying for grants to help off-set the costs. Yokely says more than 70-percent of Williamsville voters approved the project in an advisory referendum.
