Trustee: Is Chatham Getting A Raw Deal?
Trustee: Is Chatham Getting A Raw Deal?

One Chatham Village Trustee is demanding answers from the Village President and Village Manager on what Chatham is getting for its 25-thousand dollar a year contract it has with an economic development contractor.  Trustee Ken Boyle questions whether an open-ended contract the village has had with Tom McAnarney, a long-time lobbyist, is producing any measurable results.

“He’s garnered almost a quarter-million dollars in the last 10 years from the taxpayers and, he hasn’t come to one meeting since I’ve been here and he hasn’t produced one report on what’s he’s worked on” says Boyle.

Boyle may introduce an ordinance at next Tuesday’s Chatham Village Board meeting terminating the contract.  He says the original out-sourcing agreement was poorly written and he says there is no accountability to the board.  Boyle says it may be time to bring previously out-sourced functions back in-house because the village is growing rapidly and could probably start developing its own in-house expertise.
