Dozens braved the snow Saturday morning to pay their respects as hundreds of wreaths were laid at the gravesites of those buried at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
The annual holiday tradition was started by a wreath company in Maine for Arlington National Cemetery and volunteer Tom Ruck, a California resident and author of the book “Sacred Ground” says Camp Butler is a perfect backdrop for the solemn ceremony.
“Wreaths Across America is a very special time across America and it is a time for us to say thank-you for your service,” says Ruck. Ruck adds “Camp Butler is gorgeous, absolutely beautiful.”
The wreaths were provided by donations from area companies and citizens.
