In addition to addressing budget issues, test scores, and facility maintenance, Jennifer Gill says a priority for her will be to develop a plan for the recruitment of more minorities as teachers.
Gill will enter into negotiations with District 186 to be the next superintendent and she says diversity is near the top of her agenda.
“It came out loud and clear last night in the forum that this is a priority of the community. Just looking at where our numbers are at in the system and move forward to trying to bridge the gap put forth in the desegration order” says Gill.
Gill, a Springfield native who has children in the school system here, spent time as a teacher and administrator in District 186 a couple of years ago. She is currently an administrator with the McLean County School District.
