U-S Senator Dick Durbin says the version of the new Farm Bill that the Senate has passed brings together both city and rural folks. However he says the House has stripped out provisions for feeding and nutrition programs and made it a bill focused strictly on agriculture.’p
Durbin says, “The farm groups came in and said please don’t do this we’ve an alliance with people in the cities who are interested in food and nutrition programs and farmers and others who live in the rural areas who are interested in ag programs and let’s keep that together.
Durbin says a conference committee should convene in the next couple of weeks with the goal of coming to a compromise on both versions of the bill. (Durbin appeared live on the Morning Newswatch with Bob Murray Tuesday.)
