Less than 24 hours after a public forum asking questions of the two final candidates for the city of Springfield’s public schools, the Board of Education has made a decision.
The district, in a news release, said it will enter into contract negotiations with Jennifer Gill, a local woman who now works in McLean County but as recently as two years ago was a principal in District 186.
School board members say Gill has been informed of the decision and has agreed to enter negotiations but deferred further questions to district attorney Rob Cross. Board members also can’t yet say why they chose Gill.
“We want to wait for negotiations,” said subdistrict 3’s Scott MacFarland in a text message.
The school board plans to approve Gill’s appointment and her contract at its regular board meeting on Jan 6.
