A new state program could be a big boost for those who have been looking for work. A 250-thousand dollar grant from the Illinois Department of Employment Security to Lincoln Land Community College is now available and will cover tuition to applicants in the Workplace Career Center who want to find work in the transportation field.
“It targets those who have been out of work for 27 weeks or more. This an opportunity to get some really great training quickly with some great job opportunities” says Center Director Julie Rourke
Informational meetings are being held for prospective students on the LLCC campus and Rourke says the first round of students will begin training in a few weeks. The grant also may be used for employers to pay part of the salary of those who participate in the program.
