A newly formed chamber of commerce could help boost the growth of business in Sherman. With several new stores and a bank recently added, Village President Trevor Clatfelter says that the village already has a track record of making things happen.
“This village board, and myself, and I’ve created the position of economic development coordinator, and my administrator kinda helps see things through as well, so we’ve got that. But there’s nothing that says we don’t take suggestions, that we don’t need additional help.”
Sherman resident and realtor Tracy Shaw took the suggestion to create a chamber from a board member and went out to gather support from local business owners. Shaw was able to find more than enough interest, and the new chamber will have its first meeting on July 11.
