People 60 and older get free admission to the Illinois State Fair on Monday and there will be a special lineup of activities geared to seniors.
The Illinois Department on Aging is hosting the activities at the fair in Springfield, including the “Not So Newlywed Game” where couples ages 50 and older test how much they really know about each other.
There will be free health screenings. A seminar on Medicare will be presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield. And the department on aging will host the Illinois Senior Spelling Bee state finals. Winners from regional spelling bees will compete.
There are other senior activities during the week, including Thursday’s “Grandparent Grandchild Contest.” Participants are judged on resemblance, costumes, talent and interviews.
