Second Pease’s Robber Found Guilty

One of three men who robbed a Pease’s Candy Shop last summer has been found guilty.

A jury took only a couple of hours to deliberate, and found DeMarco Poole guilty of armed robbery, aggravated battery and theft. Sangamon County State’s Attorney John Milhiser says he’ll seek the maximum sentence.

“The maximum sentence allowed by law is 30 years,” says Milhiser. “We will be seeking a sentence in a very high range.”

Poole, along with his brother Michael Poole, 23, and Towan Davis, 20, robbed the Pease’s Candy Shop on south State Street last July with guns. They beat the two employees working and fled with cash.

Davis was recently sentenced to 20 years. Michael Poole is set to stand trial later this summer.
