If he’s elected governor, state Treasurer Dan Rutherford will create a new office to attract businesses to the state, headed by his pick for lieutenant governor.
Rutherford says the new Governor’s Office of Job Creation and Retention would serve as “one-stop shop” for business concerns. He says running mate Steve Kim, whose business background includes positions at Time Warner Cable and AT&T, is qualified.
“Every single cabinet officer will understand the lieutenant governor has direct access to the governor to liaise with those agencies to help keep the bureaucracy out of the way of trying to move this place forward,” Rutherford said.
Rutherford says Illinois has become “a bureaucratic nightmare,” and this office will encourage businesses to grow and expand in Illinois.
