A Roodhouse man says was struck by lightning — twice — before he won the lottery.
Terry Barnett and his wife, Ramona, of rural Roodhouse were introduced this week as the holders of the winning ticket bought last month at a convenience store. Lottery Superintendent Michael Jones says the extremely unlikely occurences give a whole new meaning to the phrase “you’re more likely to get struck by lightning than you are to win the lottery.”
The pair opted to take the lump-sum payment, which amounts to slightly less than $4 million after taxes. The couple says getting a new vehicle is a possibility, given that the one they have now has logged more than 200,000 miles.
