Police say they’ve identified human remains found in rural central Illinois last month as a 23-year-old Villa Grove woman.
Champaign County Sheriff’s Captain Allen Jones on Friday said the badly decomposed remains are Kelsie Blackford. A fisherman found the body August 30th along a rural road on Mahomet near the Sangamon River.
Jones says Blackford was last seen in November but hadn’t been reported missing. The News-Gazette reports that police are calling her death suspicious but don’t know how the woman died.
Jones says the coroner’s office confirmed Blackford’s identity on Friday.
