The governor is pleased with the prices for health insurance to be offered on Get Covered Illinois. Get Covered Illinois is the new name, announced today (Wednesday), of the state-operated insurance exchange that will be running as of Tuesday October 1, and Gov. Pat Quinn, speaking in East Moline, said he’s pleased that the rates will be lower than expected, and consumers will have choices.
“We were very pleased to see so many health insurance companies come onto the exchange. They’re gonna be competing. Here in Western Illinois, there’ll be opportunities for people to get affordable health insurance – and that’s a complete package,” he said.
There will be 165 options offered, at least 34 for everyone’s circumstances. The exchange is for people who don’t get insurance through their employer or through the government.
