Gov. Pat Quinn isn’t gloating about his Democratic challenger dropping out of the governor’s race. He says even with Democratic candidate Bill Daley dropping out of the governor’s race, there are other candidates he’ll have to contend with in next year’s election.
“I think it is good we have competition at all times” says Quinn. “I know there are four Republican candidates and they are not referring to me as the loving son of a loving mother, so we will have a good stern contest and that’s good for the public.”
The governor also dismissed concerns about Daley refusing to endorse him after he dropped out, saying that come next year, only the opinion of voters will count.
