Plaintiffs in Illinois’ same-sex marriage lawsuits are seeking to hasten the case to a conclusion. The ACLU and the group Lambda Legal, representing same-sex couples seeking marriage in Illinois, filed a motion for summary judgment today (Wednesday).
Danielle Cook of Bloomington, one of the plaintiffs says “I have seven siblings, all of whom are happily married. I should have the same rights.”
The defendants are the county clerks in Effingham and Tazewell counties, represented by the Thomas More Society. They have filed a motion to dismiss, will be heard Aug. 6. A date for a hearing on the motion for summary judgment has not been set.
