Proposal to Settle Document Shredding Lawsuit to be Considered Next Week

Springfield aldermen will consider an ordinance Tuesday from Mayor Mike Houston to settle with Calvin Christian III regarding the shredding of police internal affairs documents.

The settlement is a little more than $100,000 with $30,00  going to Christian.  The remainder will go to attorneys involved with the case.  As part of the proposed deal, the city will not admit to any wrong-doing and Christian will not be able to further pursue the case.

Christian also has a civil rights violation suit against the city in federal court.
