Monday’s heavy rainfall in Springfield caused some damage to the Prairie Capital Convention Center.
General Manager Brian Oaks says the rain overflowed one of the roof top drains, which allowed water to reach one of the newly remodeled bathrooms on the second floor.
“We had a little bit of drywall one of our new bathrooms that had some water in it, so we’ll have to explore that and see what needs to be replaced there.”
Oaks says a lot of water got into the basement of the convention center because of ongoing construction has left large holes in the roof. Workers were able to remove the water and found no damage. None of the newly renovated sections of the basement were affected.
