Mayor Mike Houston says he will present an ordinance to the Springfield City Council December 30th seeking the appointment of J. Todd Greenburg as the new corporation counsel.
“In checking Mr. Greenburg’s references there was no question about his capabilities as a municipal attorney or any ethical concerns,” says the mayor.
Houston says Greenburg brings almost 30 years of municipal law experience. Most recently, Greenburg retired after serving as the Bloomington Corporation Council for more than 23 years. However, the Bloomington Pantagraph reports Greenburg was placed on administrative leave over a dispute with the city manager for several months. Greenburg retired in November.
Greenburg will meet with members of the city council and the ordinance is expected to be introduced at the Committee-of-the-Whole meeting at the end of the month.
