There’s money in the budget for another giant welcome sign in Springfield, and this one would be seen by more than 65,000 drivers a day.

Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Fred Puglia says a plan to paint a mural on the new CWLP building along I-55 is still moving forward.

“When the concept became real, we started talking about the graphics,” says Puglia, adding the legal department is investigating potential permitting and zoning complications.

Puglia says early estimates show a mural could cost around $25,000.
