The Sangamon County’s Sheriff Department has a new deputy and she is a real looker. Raja will officially join the force after fourteen weeks of training. Undersheriff Jack Campbell says thanks to a generous donation from a local company, the K-9 Corps is back to full strength.
“Every dollar is very tough for us to come up with and for them to be so generous to help us come up with a third dog for our canine unit is very important” according to Cambell.
Campbell says the Landmark Automative Group approached him to see how they could help. At the time, one of working dogs was no longer able to perform so Campbell suggested some help to purchase the dog. The Belgian Malnois (MALL-nwah) costs 8-thousand dollars and will be trained in-house. Raja is expected to join the other two working dogs on the force later this winter.
