The mother of a 7-year-old Illinois girl who authorities say was stabbed to death by her uncle is facing a misdemeanor in the case. Willow Long’s mother, Ciara DeRyke, was arrested in Effingham. She’s charged with obstruction related to the investigation of her daughter’s September killing.
She’s being held on $75,000 bond pending a court appearance
Investigators say DeRyke lied to police, telling them she’d seen Long even though the girl was already dead. DeRyke’s 22-year-old brother Justin is being held on $5 million bond for the Willow’s death.
