The 2014 fiscal year draft budget has been presented to the Ball Chatham Community School Board. Transportation and per pupil state funding is down again, coming in at 69 and 88 percent respectively. But it’s hard to make cuts in a budget when 63 percent of expenditures is in employee salaries and benefits, says Board President Jim Neuses.
“Hopefully things will continue to look up and the state will continue to pay like they should, then we should be ok” says Nueses. He does point out however, the state is slow in paying its obligations.
Neuses says overall the report was a good one, with an estimated positive find balance at the end of the fiscal year.
