A Metro East prosecutor is taking the state’s lack of a concealed carry law into his own hands.
Madison County State’s Attorney Thomas Gibbons says his office will no longer prosecute anyone under the state law banning concealed guns because a federal court has struck down the law. Gibbons says anyone in Madison County with a valid state gun owners ID card can carry a concealed weapon.
The Illinois State Police disagree and say that while Gov. Quinn contemplates a concealed carry bill on his desk, the current law remains in force.
