Macon County Inmate Died from Natural Causes

An autopsy shows a 59-year-old Macon County Jail inmate died from natural causes. Michael V. Banks had a stroke and also suffered from pre-existing cardiovascular disease.

He died Monday at St. Mary’s Hospital, a day after he was found unresponsive in his cell by a corrections officer.

Banks had been in custody since Sept. 22, when he was arrested for stealing a woman’s purse. He was charged with robbery.
