Lincoln Land Community College is expanding its partnership with the Illinois National Guard.
Dr. Charlotte Warren, Lincoln Land’s president, says the first class of culinary arts students of Army National Guard members is already filled and in session and says this program builds on an already strong partnership with the military.
“It’s not the first time we’ve had partnerships,” says Warren. “We’ve also done some things with our aviation maintenance program, and we’re on a list of military schools, we’ve worked closely with our veterans. We do a lot of things for the Illinois National Guard at our institute.”
Guard members who want to switch their occupational speciality to Army Cook have had, up until now, wait for months for a slot to open in a military school. The LLCC Culinary Institute now provides the training at their Workplace Development Center and Army instructors conduct the training. Warren says the program offers world-class equipment that the National Guard currently does not have.
