Telemarketers could soon be charged $500 every time they call people who are on the Do Not Call Registry.
State Representative C.D. Davidsmeyer is behind the measure, which cracks down on calls that come to people’s cell phones. The senate needs to approve a technical change before the bill is sent to Governor Quinn.
Anyone who wants to get on the do-not-call list in Illinois can go to DoNotCall.gov.
