No..it isn’t grafitti, dozens of families came downtown Saturday to Paint the Street. Betsy Dollar, Executive Director of the Springfield Art Association, says this first effort has been a lot of work but is worth it. She says commuters shouldn’t be afraid to drive over the art on Washington Street near the Old State Capitol…she hopes people will appreciate the effort.
“It is designed to come off. Its a empheral, temporal kind of thing…we think folks downtown stop by and take a look at the work” says Dollar.
Dollar says this may become an annual event. Bands and food vendors supplied the “artists” with entertainment and refreshments as groups each painted a six-foot square portion of Washington.
