It is as American as apple pie….Fourth of July celebrations….so the staff and residents of Hope Institute did just that, only a day early, with a parade Wednesday. Complete with a firetruck, marching bands, motorcycles, and floats, residents marched the parade route on the grounds of Hope and Mark Schmidt, Director of Communications for Hope Institute says it is important residents feel like a part of society.
“It is a way for our kids to celebrate America’s independence.” Schmidt says.
Participants were accompanied by Springfield Sliders players who volunteered to spend the day at Hope. Schmidt also says it was a way to honor the riders of ABATE; he says the motorcycle organization does much to support the institute.
