A guilty plea Thursday resulted in in a 46-year prison sentence. Eric Fagan, a 25-year old Springfield man, pled guilty in the killing of his brother’s girlfriend and their infant daughter back in 2010. Their bodies were found in the ruins of their burned out home in the 700-block of West Maple.
The baby’s death was determined to be from smoke inhalation, but Jessica Ostermeier was killed beforehand and prosecutors asserted that Fagan burned down the home to hide the murders. Fagan will serve at least 38 years.
