An Edinburg woman will be serving time for embezzling money from the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Mary Ann Bohlen, 47, of Edinburg will serve 21 months in federal prison for embezzling $50,000 from various Inmate and Corrections officer’s funds. Bohlen admitted writing herself checks to cash from the Inmate Benefit, Inmate Commissary, and Reimbursement and Education Fund during her tenure. She also stole funds from the Memorial Association.
Bohlen admitted that she used the money for personal use and also wrote checks from the funds to a business in Owaneco, Illinois where she was an employee, partner or accountant.
